Lille have confirmed that Jonathan David has signed a new contract with the club, keeping him at the club until 2027.

David's current deal expires in June 2022, but he has now agreed to extend his stay with the club by five more years, meaning he will be with the team until 2027.

The news comes as a major boost for the club, who have been searching for a replacement for Antoine Griezmann, who left for Atletico Madrid this summer.

David was one of Lille's standout performers last season, scoring 14 goals and providing eight assists in all competitions. He was also named Ligue 1 Player of the Year, after helping the team to win the league title.

With David now committed to Lille until 2027, the club can focus on strengthening their squad ahead of next season. The club has already made some signings, including Brazilian midfielder Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City, but they will need to add more players if they want to challenge for the Champions League title again.

In addition to his performances on the pitch, David has also become a key figure off it, inspiring the fans and showing great leadership qualities. He is widely regarded as one of the best young strikers in Europe, and his signing is sure to be a big boost for Lille.
